Working Together Jackson invites you to our Refounding Convention and City-Wide Assembly at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23rd, to be held at New Horizon Church International, 1770 Ellis Avenue in Jackson, Mississippi.
The event will bring Jacksonians together to:
-Rebuild around a vision for a stronger Jackson that we can all take pride in.
-Launch a community engagement campaign with the goal of equipping Jackson citizens to vote in local elections and, on a continuous basis, impact decisions that affect our city.
-Recommit to the work of broad-based organizing for power to effect change.
-Celebrate the commitments of new and returning member institutions.
One of the most powerful and effective leaders at our sister organization East Brooklyn Congregations (EBC), the Reverend David Brawley, will be the keynote speaker. EBC was founded in 1980 in East New York and Brownsville. Their accomplishments include the construction of over 5,000 affordable homes and apartments, the opening of two public high schools, $5 million in park renovations, and countless other neighborhood improvements.
